Joy of living...

Our deepest reason for joy is in knowing we are the ultimate best without any room for the second. 

When we know we are the best, whatever we do that ultimately becomes the best. When we serve people with this attitude, the service becomes the ultimate worship. Our ability to hold an intention to be in service shapes our overall attitude towards life in many ways.  A greater sensitivity and awareness of situations, a commitment to harmlessness, a willingness to put others’ needs before our own and a desire to be in harmony with all transforms our attitude to greater joy.

We do not just exist. We are in service to everything that exists. Everything that exists is in service with the rest. A stone serves no less than a saint.


In service to what exists we discover the ultimate joy! The joy of living.

Jealousy can destroy oneself!

Once, when Karna realized hat Arjuna was superior to him in archery, he approached Guru Drona and requested him to teach him how to be blessed with Brahmastra.  Guru Drona declined saying he can't teach any but a learned scholar rooted in dhrma or a kshatriya who had purified himself by dhrma and dhyana.  Disappointed Karna went to the Mahendra parvatha where sage Parashurama was staying. He deceived Parashurama by saying that he was a brahmana and became his disciple. From him he obtained instruction in archery and the use of many astras. Karna chose to approach Guru Drona for Brahmastra not for peace, but to prove his strength over Arjuna. His choice was plagued by likes and dislikes like jealousy. Where he had a choice to appreciate Arjuna, which he could not because of his likes and dislikes of not accepting others as more knowledgeable. One day, I was walking through the walking paths of woods of the ashrama. It was a gorgeous evening; Sun was preparing to set. Suddenly, there was a big snake in front of me. I had almost stepped on, no one around and this could be painful death. I was paralyzed by fear, my body had broken into a sweat, my heart was beating to pop out.  But then, suddenly Guruji came and he dared to have a glance at the snake. Surprisingly, he claimed, “Devadutta, it is a rope. That snake is  a rope”. Now I realized I am safe and free from the fear of the snake. I can encounter this false snake for years after year.
