A great school and great teachers
What makes a successful school?
We may say it's infrastructure, which includes curriculum,
management and the brightest students. True, we think they make a school great.
In reality they don’t. In fact, what is the impressive infrastructure of a
school? A school can’t become a great school if it doesn’t have great teachers.
Teachers make a school successful. They actually lead parents, management,
learning methods and students from darkness to brightness.
The success of a schools mission rests with teachers who actually
transform its vision into reality. Without the participation of a teacher in
learning no student will accomplish their life purpose. If you ask people from
different occupation, more than 86% of them say, it is their teachers who set
them on success path. Teacher is the one person who inspires us and makes us to
believe in our self.
What subject a teacher taught us doesn't matter much. It may have
been solving a mathematical problem, biology, zoology, botany, geography or the
study of mind. Yet, we developed a love for the learning session that remains
with us today. Even we remember the subtle learning experience of our
schooling. What makes us to relate to that experience? It is the attitude of
that teacher that has been put behind every teaching. Thus, they transformed
teaching to learning. We still remember our learning experience because it was
backed and embellished by a great value called “acceptance”. When a teacher
teaches it is not a teacher doing some work, actually he or she is living up to
a value system, which acceptance is a part. Teachers manifest in the form of
values!
While studying, I knew where I stood because my assignments used to
come back with incisive comments. I used to get both praise whenever I had done
well and punishments whenever I failed. Teacher would never fail to speak their
mind; I could see concern in their eyes and transparency in their thinking.
They were the teachers every one loved to approach them for assistance. They
would find time to accept our infant thoughts and give it a shape, they were
known to be fair to all and no one was afraid to approach them. They would know
which of our thoughts were genuine and which were not. They always ensured me
to realize that I am a lot smarter than I thought I am.
This is a student’s perspective of a great teacher. It is what as
seen through the eyes of a student. Yet, a student sees only some aspect of a
teacher, there is probably much more to a teacher as a human being. What makes
human being a great teacher?
Let me think. Namasthe
Enjoy taking care of your self and people around.
